Runco’s Latest Option for Reflection™ Series Projectors Serves Installer’s Needs
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM — February 1, 2006 — Home theater enthusiasts who wish to use multiple video sources on their Runco CL-610 or CL-810 projectors, without having to run multiple cables to the projector, will now have an incredible tool that makes installation and system expansion a breeze. With the introduction of the SDC-1 Controller with R-Link™, Runco International will once again add to their reputation, not only as the leaders in home theater video display technology, but also as an installer-friendly company known for providing their dealer base with quality installation solutions.
The SDC-1 Controller is an optional system expansion device specifically designed as a unique interface solution for both the CL-610 and CL-810 projectors. The SDC-1 Controller integrates controlling and switching of video sources via its R-Link™ cable, used between the SDC-1 and the projector. In application, the SDC-1 Controller would reside in the rack along with each video source component, offering a variety of inputs and automation options to be conveniently connected to the Controller. Output from the SDC-1 Controller would travel through the R-Link™ cable and into the projector’s R-Link input, allowing for switching between various video components with only one cable running from source point to projector.
Bob Hana, president of Runco International, said, “the latest addition to the Reflection™ portfolio of projectors gives installers the flexibility to design expandable home cinemas within a wide variety of home environments. With the addition of the SDC-1 Controller and R-link cable, we are giving our dealers an incredible installation tool for the CL-610 and CL-810 projectors.” Mr. Hana added, “We aspire to develop useful application components and again demonstrate what the ‘Runco Experience’ is all about.”
The SDC-1 Controller will feature a wide variety of input options, including two HDMI digital inputs which are compatible with DVI digital interfaces with HDCP. Additionally, the controller has two RGB/Component inputs, as well as one input each for S-Video and composite video. A serial port that can be configured for either RS-232 or RS-422 formats affords seamless integration with automation control systems. In fact, the SDC-1 is the first product in the Runco line that has been designed to work with AMX’s ‘Device Discovery’ feature, making its integration into an AMX control system extremely simple. The controller also includes an IR receiver to receive commands from IR remote-controlled systems. Finally, the SDC-1 also features three trigger controls that increase its system flexibility. Two of the triggers will be 12-volt trigger relays and one trigger will be a dry contact closure.
The R-Link™ cable features dual terminations on the controller side, one HDMI-style interface and one 8-pin connector interface. On the projector end, the R-Link™ is terminated with a DVI-style connector. While a 12’ cable will be included with each CL-610/CL-810 projector, the company is also offering a wide variety of R-Link™ cable lengths for installers to use during pre-wire installation. Cables will be available in 25’, 35’, and 50’ lengths.
Runco’s legacy is based on projectors that represent the highest levels of performance, as well as offering installation flexibility. To continue this tradition, the company’s engineers gave special consideration to the features of the SDC-1 Controller in supporting this philosophy. The Controller and R-Link have both been engineered to comply with Imaging Science Foundation™ (ISF) standards for maximum video quality.
