Runco International and Wireless Home Team Up for PGA Tour Event
Greg Norman Franklin Templeton Shootout Venue for Latest Technologies
UNION CITY, CALIFORNIA — November 7, 2005 — Runco International is bringing the future of home video technology to Naples, Florida in support of local authorized dealer, Wireless Home, for the Greg Norman Franklin Templeton Shootout that takes place November 7-13, 2005 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort’s Tiburon Golf Club. As an official sponsor, Wireless Home will be demonstrating the latest in high-tech smart-home technology, including whole-house music, media center infrastructure, and home cinema, and will feature Runco International flat-panel displays exclusively during the event.
“We always are looking for ways to support our local dealers and assist them in promoting their businesses,” said Bob Hana, president of Runco International. “Being that the Franklin Templeton Shootout is a regular PGA tour event and will draw a lot of fans to the Ritz-Carlton property to watch the stellar field they’ve assembled, we’re thrilled that Matt Peters and Wireless Homes invited us to support their efforts. Wireless Home offers cutting edge technology solutions for the home and we’re proud that Runco is their preferred flat-panel and video projector supplier.”
The Franklin Templeton Shootout, which is hosted by World Golf Hall of Fame member Greg Norman, is proudly celebrating its 17th anniversary in 2005. This one-of-a-kind competition features 24 of the world’s top professional golfers playing on two-man teams in a mixed-format of modified alternate shot, better ball, and scramble. For sponsors, fans, and TOUR professionals alike, the Shootout offers an intimate yet exciting atmosphere that should not be missed.
Runco Lends Support to Wireless Homes for PGA Event
Wireless Home will host tournament attendees at the golf course in their official Expo booth and demonstrate the latest “Media Center” and “Whole House” solutions available on the market. Offering complete design and installation services, Wireless Home specializes in home automation and control solutions that give clients simple control over their lights, music, home theater, photos, temperature, and more.
Runco International will be providing several different flat-panel solutions in support of Wireless Home’s efforts during the golf event. On display will be two of Runco International’s award-winning plasma displays, the CW-43mc and CW-50mc (43” and 50” sized screens, respectively). Both plasma monitors have a native resolution of 1024 x 768 to accommodate all HDTV sources with ease. Spectacular picture performance can be viewed at an angle as wide as 160 degrees from the chassis, which measures less than 4 1/2 inches in depth.
Runco incorporates its acclaimed Vivix™ processing onto a modular card for the first time with these two display devices. This controller card contains all of the video processing circuitry necessary for superb image reproduction on this flat panel display. Additionally, several significant improvements have been engineered into the Vivix processing circuitry. Orthogonal line processing and deinterlacing have been incorporated, and a sophisticated video decoder is used that compensates for time-base errors commonly found in analog sources such as video tape. These new orthogonal algorithms result in substantial refinement of processed images and the new decoder produces deeply saturated colors, excellent contrast, high brightness and low black levels, without the artifacts associated with ordinary processing.
“We’re so happy to have Runco’s support for our event during the Franklin Templeton Shootout,” said Matt Peters, owner of Wireless Home. “Not only are we proud to have their plasma and LCD flat-panels in our Expo booth, but we have also worked with the tournament director to have some of the Runco plasma monitors distributed around the property, from the VIP lounges to the clubhouse, so people won’t miss a minute of action, as this promises to be an exciting tournament.”
Runco will also be providing their Crystal Series™ CR-32HD high-performance WideVision™ LCD display, which is perfect for those who demand award-winning flat-panel performance in more intimate sizes than are offered with Runco’s larger plasma monitors.
This high-definition HDTV-ready display incorporates Runco’s exclusive Vivix™ digital video processing that provides outstanding picture quality from both standard and high-definition source material. In addition, this handsome, gloss black television is engineered with ISF™ calibration standards in every model for the purest video performance. The CR-32HD features a 185-channel, cable-ready NTSC stereo tuner with PIP/POP, closed captioning, V-chip function, and multi-language support. It also includes an integrated stereo audio system with surround sound technology with 2-way speakers and generous power amplification.
