Runco Redefines Video Quality with an Unprecedented Portfolio of 3-chip 1080p Projectors

Joint effort with THX results in the Video Xtreme models being the industry's first 1080p HD video display products to achieve THX certification*.

Union City, CA - September 13, 2006 - Runco International's Video Xtreme™ line of new 1080p DLP™ projectors bring Runco's innovations in 3-chip projector engineering and THX's video certification standards to new heights. Adding to an already spectacular 720p product assortment in the Video Xtreme portfolio, the new VX-22d, VX-44d and VX-55d 1080p models are destined to be industry leaders in 3-chip projector performance, features, installation flexibility, and screen-filling power.

As the first 1080p HD video display products to achieve THX certification*, the new VX-22d, VX-44d and VX-55d are being tested to the rigorous standards outlined in the THX Certified Display program. The THX program promises that HD and standard definition content will be presented with the correct color, luminance levels and video processing capabilities. Runco is the launch licensee for the THX video program and the companies have been working closely together on the finalization of these products.

Along with THX certification Runco's Video Xtreme models have been designed for outstanding picture quality through Runco's three-chip implementation of DLP, each chip is dedicated to a specific color - red, green and blue - for superb color spectrum purity. These systems also offer the industry's best black level and contrast performance. Runco has engineered Imaging Science Foundation (ISF™) calibration standards into every model for the purest video performance.

"Our Video Xtreme portfolio of 3-chip 1080p projectors takes video projection to the next level with dazzling picture quality and extensive options to deliver unprecedented cinematic realism," said Runco President Bob Hana. "These flagship projection systems are created for the very finest home theater applications, and are designed for true connoisseurs of big screen picture perfection who will accept no compromise."

The VX 1080p 3-chip models are offered with numerous configuration options and prices, for a broad and versatile lineup that will easily meet the needs of any high-end installation requirement. For the ultimate in viewing flexibility and enjoyment, each model is available with Runco's exclusive award- winning CineWide™ and CineWide with AutoScope™ technology. This ground-breaking option can transform a superb home theater system into a true home cinema experience, reproducing 2.35:1 CinemaScope™ movies with unparalleled accuracy and full vertical screen image height, eliminating useless black bars.

Featuring a native resolution of1920 x 1080 and utilizing advanced three-chip 16:9 SuperOnyx™ DMDs™ combined with Runco's award-winning Vivix II™ video processing, the resulting images are breathtaking. Engineered to provide stellar 1080p performance without compromise, the VX-22d, VX-44d and VX-55d utilize the same footprint and versatile feature set as their best selling 720p cousins: the VX-2, VX-40 and VX-50. CinOptx™ lenses will be available to provide a range of different throw distances. Exclusive Runco features such as AxiShift™ technology with a motorized horizontal and vertical lens shift system help resolve even the most challenging projector placement issues.

All Video Xtreme projectors are paired with a re-engineered version of Runco's acclaimed DHD controller, now featuring HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connectivity for optimum compatibility with a broad range of source components. The widely heralded DHD has been such a success that Runco focused the engineering changes only to those necessary for optimal 1080p performance with the new projectors, retaining the features and performance that have made the DHD so popular.

MSRP of the VX-22d is $44,995, the VX-44d is $79,995 and the flagship VX-55d is $99,995, or $114,995 when equipped with the CineWide with AutoScope option and Runco's most advanced McKinley anamorphic optics.
